THE APPROACH

How does Innovation ReThink work?

1. Assess and prioritise your capabilities

Using IfM frameworks including the Technology and Innovation Management Diagnostic (TIM Diagnostic), we quickly build a picture of current capabilities highlighting strengths and prioritising areas for improvement. We use insights from key internal stakeholders, customers and other members of your business ecosystem to build a comprehensive situational analysis.

By the end of this stage, you will clarify your strengths and the areas requiring improvement in your innovation management system.

2. Target and establish pilot projects

From the work in stage one, we will work with you on high-impact projects aimed at delivering new value for the business. The focus for this stage is structured and rapid team discovery and alignment on key innovation areas is achieved. This provides strategic leaders with a robust and compelling narrative for investment and redeployment of resources. Projects can also target improvement of specific aspects of your innovation management system with the aim of delivering and demonstrating value, building momentum and aligning results with key business drivers and growth objectives.

CASE STUDY

Tools applied at this stage include the IfM’s Strategic Roadmapping approach, which we have deployed in hundreds of organisations to support them in their technology innovation planning.

“Roadmapping provided a valuable framework to bring the right people together to share knowledge and to transform this collaborative knowledge into delivering better strategy and innovation planning.”

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

One of the tools used in Innovation ReThink is Business Ecosystem Strategy. This approach helped a multinational defence company win a major tendering contract for a significant modification for commissioned naval platforms.

“Before we started the process, we feared that we were not competitive to win this tender and this would increase risk to future potential contracts. We won the bid and the themes identified using the workshop had a significant impact on our strategic approach, by evidencing the best value proposition required to deliver the solution.”
