FE College Programme Lead - Digital Shoestring Unit

Location: Cambridge-based with approximately 40% UK travel.

Term: Fixed-term contract for 2 years.

We are looking for an FE College Programme Lead to join the Digital Shoestring Unit at IfM Engage. This is a senior, delivery-focused role dedicated to scaling a revolutionary, low-cost approach to digital transformation across the UK’s Further Education landscape.

The Digital Manufacturing on a Shoestring programme provides affordable, easy-to-implement digital solutions. As the Lead for our FE College Programme, you will bridge the gap between research and industrial application, transitioning our successful pilots into a sustainable national model. You will empower FE colleges to act as self-sustaining “Shoestring Capability Hubs,” specifically driving expansion across England, Wales, and Scotland.

Junior Digital Solution Engineer - Digital Shoestring Unit

Location: Cambridge-based.

Term: Fixed-term contract for 1 year (Full-time, 37.5 hours per week).

We are looking for a Junior Digital Solution Engineer to join the Digital Shoestring Unit at IfM Engage. This hands-on technical role is an ideal opportunity for an entry-level engineer or graduate to gain real-world experience across software, IoT/edge systems, and data within an agile, collaborative team.

The Digital Manufacturing on a Shoestring programme provides affordable, low-cost digital solutions to help manufacturers modernise without disrupting core operations. In this role, you will help turn these research-led solutions into dependable, repeatable products. You will work with a modern tech stack, including Python, Linux, Docker, and Django, to support the development, testing, and deployment of sensing solutions that provide immediate benefits to SMEs.
