Alvaro is a university professor, researcher and facilitator of innovation processes, with experience across technology, innovation management, technology transfer and entrepreneurship. He supports organisations in using research-based tools and roadmapping approaches to connect emerging technologies with market opportunities, commercial strategy and practical routes to impact.

HIGHLIGHTS
Alvaro began his professional career in the technology industry, holding strategic account and sales management roles for more than 14 years. His experience spans high-technology start-ups and large corporations, including Microsoft, and he helped develop the commercial growth of a pioneering internet security services start-up in Central America.
He has held innovation and technology transfer leadership roles at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala and has founded or co-founded ventures including Iskra Innovation and Experimenta Lab. His work bridges academic research, entrepreneurship and the practical commercialisation of new technologies.
Alvaro holds an MSc in Organisational and Social Psychology from the London School of Economics and a PhD in Innovation Management from the University of Cambridge. At Cambridge, he supported commercial strategies for emerging technologies from the Cavendish Laboratory and the Centre for Advanced Photonics and Electronics, focusing on advanced materials, flexible electronics and markets such as the Internet of Things
