Michèle Routley is a technology and innovation strategy specialist working with a diverse range of technology-intensive organisations to improve how they create and capture value.

EXPERTISE

As an Industrial Associate Michèle works locally and internationally to ensure effective implementation of the practical tools and techniques developed by IfM to stimulate innovation and drive growth. Through a collaborative approach she provides insight and expertise to inform, implement, and embed approaches such as:

  • Strategic technology roadmapping
  • Innovation strategy and management
  • Open innovation
  • Portfolio evaluation and opportunity prioritisation
  • New product development (NPD)

A passionate believer in life-long learning, Michèle also delivers executive education in technology and innovation strategy.

HIGHLIGHTS

Michèle has been providing consultancy services in technology innovation management and manufacturing for over twenty years across various industry sectors, including aerospace, defence, electronics, fabrication, industrial automation, pharma, software, and telecoms. Much of her work has involved incorporation of new technology and consideration of environmental and sustainable impacts. Most recently she was the global lead for revitalising corporate NPD and innovation for a Fortune 500 company. Michèle’s connection with IfM began in 2009, as a part-time Research Associate in IfM’s Centre for Technology Management, developing practical tools to assist industry with technology-based emergence and innovation development.

Michèle has an MSci (Hons) in Physics with Electronics from the University of St Andrews, a PhD in Microelectronics at the University of Southampton, an MBA (Distinction) in Technology Management from the Open University, and a DBA (Doctorate of Business Administration) in Digital Affordances for Technology Strategizing from Cranfield University. She is a Chartered Physicist, a member of the Institute of Physics Business Innovation and Growth Committee, and a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
