Andy Neely is Professor of Manufacturing and former Head of the Institute for Manufacturing. Currently he is the University’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise and Business Relations and a member of the University’s leadership team. He has worked at the IfM for over ten years.
EXPERTISE
Andy has worked with numerous manufacturing organisations over the years, specialising particularly in:
- Help organisations identify and implement KPIs that align with their strategy and drive the right behaviours.
- Developing manufacturing strategies.
- Innovating business models, particularly those enabled by data and outcome based contracts.
Andy is an experienced and skilled facilitator, working particularly with boards and leadership teams.
HIGHLIGHTS
Andy started his career in industry, before moving to Cambridge in the early 1990s. He worked with Rolls Royce and T&N to develop processes for formulating manufacturing strategies and designing performance measurement systems. He was appointed Professor of Operations Strategy and Performance at Cranfield School of Management in 2000, before returning to Cambridge to establish the Cambridge Service Alliance and then lead the Institute for Manufacturing.
Andy holds BEng and PhD degrees in Manufacturing Engineer. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2019 and awarded an OBE in the 2020 New Years Honours list.
