Established in 2013, the Strategic Technology & Innovation Management (STIM) Consortium is a membership programme that enables collaboration between industrial member companies, researchers from Centre for Technology Management (CTM) and other universities and participants globally. CTM is based in the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), a division of the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge.

MEMBERSHIP – WHAT TO EXPECT

STIM includes an annual rolling programme of research and development projects, typically comprising three broad phases:

Exploration: consultation to understand industrial context, issues and priorities, combined with state-of-the-art review.

Development: pilot case studies to develop practical approaches and underpinning conceptual frameworks.

Consolidation: test applications and documentation of results in the form of managerial guidelines, training materials and academic publications.

A series of online and/or face-to-face events are scheduled through the year as focal points for network engagement, providing an opportunity to review progress, engage with research projects and with other companies.

Network meetings: member companies and researchers convene to discuss practical business challenges, learn from one another and propose solutions on how they may be addressed. Ongoing Consortium research projects to address these challenges are presented and discussed, and members network with the researchers to understand how they may collaborate and apply the results.

Project engagement days: researchers have the opportunity to present and discuss their work to member companies in more detail, obtaining their particular perspective on the area of focus of their projects.

Knowledge transfer event: member companies have the opportunity to attend interactive online masterclasses which present solutions to address various challenges in technology and innovation management.

JOIN A UNIQUE NETWORK

Dr Imoh Ilevbare, Programme Director for the Strategic Technology & Innovation Management (STIM) Consortium gives an overview of why organisations look to join the Consortium and what benefits they get from being part of the network.

MEMBER PROGRAMME

STIM is an annual rolling programme, refreshed each year in terms of focus and membership. The programme is organised around an annual schedule of strategic technology and innovation management projects, jointly developed at the launch meeting, providing a platform to support exchange of experience by participating firms.

The core programme of events is enhanced with additional knowledge transfer/exchange events including masterclasses, webinars and exploratory workshops to provide member companies with relevant knowledge in selected STIM topics and challenges.
